England - Yorkshire Dales to Lake District

Fountains Abbey is quite large and impressive. The church, with its nave and many windows, stands almost to full height. It was originally founded in 1132 by Benedictine monks from St Mary’s Abbey in York who were seeking a simpler life in the countryside.
